WLC members gather in support of Dolly Parton's Imagination Library

The Women's Leadership Council (WLC) of United Way of Acadiana held their 2014 Luncheon today at the Hilton in Lafayette.

The WLC is a movement of women who are united to influence the condition of children in Acadiana through leadership, philanthropy and advocacy. The WLC invests donations to increase early learning opportunities for children and other important issues affecting the quality of family life.

The WLC focuses on early-grade literacy and supports Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, a program that provides free books to children throughout Acadia, Lafayette, St. Martin and Vermilion parishes. Each registered child receives one free book in the mail each month until that child reaches age 5.

More than 13,000 children in Acadiana have received Dolly Parton's Imagination Library books.
