A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until noon for our far northern parishes of Acadiana. Included in the advisory are Beauregard, Allen, Evangeline, Vernon, Rapides, and Avoyelles parishes. Some light snow, sleet, and freezing rain is developing over southeast Texas and this area of precipitation will move east-northeast into central Louisiana.
Most of the temperatures are hovering between 30-32 in those areas this morning. As the precipitation moves in, temperatures should climb above the 32 degree mark, so any frozen precip that falls, should melt quickly. A few slick spots are possible on bridges and overpasses, especially toward Alexandria. All of the sleet and snow should change to rain by early this afternoon. Rainfall is forecast to move out of the area before sunset.
Mostly rain is forecast for most of Acadiana from US 190 and southward, sleet or flurries may mix in briefly, but should melt as it hits the ground. Temperatures have been at or above the freezing point most of the morning. The temperature in Lafayette was a 33 degrees as of 7am.
