Despite a quiet and sunny weekend conditions will be changing quickly for the start of the work week.
Overnight Sunday a system will come bubbling out of the Gulf of Mexico and providing Acadiana with a round of wet weather. Expect the rain to get started a few hours before sunrise on Monday.
Blanketing rain will drench much of southern Louisiana, with the heaviest rainfall from Morgan City eastwards. So those traveling to New Orleans on Monday will want to leave a little earlier then usual.
A half inch to an inch of rain is expected along the I-10 parishes and rain totals could climb to over an inch for the coastal parishes and even closer to two inches in Morgan City. Not much in the way of thunderstorms is expected but we could hear a few rumbles of thunder possible.
By Monday evening, however, the skies will be clearing and the sun will be out for the remainder of the day, with clear skies continuing through the rest of the week.
