Wet Weather Arriving for the Weekend

For the last few days a steady stream of tropical moisture has been drenching our neighbors to the east. Heavy rains have caused flooding problems along the Atlantic Coast and Florida Panhandle as well.

Lafayette and Acadiana has sat just on this edge of this plume of moisture but it is on the way and will start to have a major impact Friday afternoon. Widely scattered showers will move in for the end of the work week, and will continue for the next several days.

The weekend is going to be a wet one with the bulk of the rain arriving on Sunday. When all is said and done we could be looking at a few inches of rainfall in Lafayette by Sunday afternoon. A few thunderstorms will be thrown into the mix so expect the occasional rumble of thunder.

We've been fairly dry through the month of June so the rain won't necessarily be a bad thing, as I'm sure a few of your gardens could do with a good drenching.

Heavier rain is expected in eastern parts of the state so may not be the best time for a quick trip to New Orleans where they will see quite a bit of rain. Unsettled weather is expected to last into the work week as well.
