Slight chance for some severe weather moving forward for the rest of the work week. Strong storms developing out in Texas have prompted a few severe thunderstorm watches in west Louisiana with activity expected to pick up early Friday morning.
Most of the showers and storms will hold off until after midnight Thursday when Acadiana will begin an unsettled couple of days. Rain chances are at a solid 60-70% for both Friday and Saturday and a few severe storms are not out of the question.
Based on what we have seen in Texas so far the main threat is going to be medium sized hail, but the winds could also cause some damage and there will be a small possibility for an isolated tornado.
The severe weather threat starts on Thursday night and will continue through most of the day on Friday, however, by Saturday it is shaping up to be mainly showers with the occasional rumble of thunder.
This is a fairly quick moving system and by Sunday the rain will be clearing out and we will look at another couple of days of sunshine. Remember if the weather does start to turn nasty to keep it tuned to KATC both on air and on-line.
