SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) - A federal judge has sentenced an accountant to three years in prison for fraud after stealing more than half a million dollars from the Webster Parish business where he worked.
U.S. Attorney Stephanie A. Finley said Thursday that U.S. District Judge Donald E. Walter of Shreveport also sentenced 37-year-old Murlin D. Graham, of Bossier City, to three years of supervised released and ordered him to pay $582,333 in restitution to CW&W Contractors Inc. He also must forfeit a Stingray speedboat and travel trailer.
According to evidence presented at his April guilty plea, Graham created "shell companies" with names similar to those that did business with CW&W. The companies were solely under Graham's control.
Finley says the Graham "tried to hide his theft but was ultimately brought to justice."
