NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Morning storms knocked out power for thousands around Louisiana and prompted warnings of possible severe weather and flash floods.
A broad swath of stormy weather moved across much of the state Friday morning. Entergy Corp. reported more than 13,000 outages - more than 6,000 of them in the Baton Rouge area. Other, smaller utility companies also reported scattered outages.
Traffic on the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway was closed in both directions for more than half an hour, complicating traffic woes for New Orleans area commuters.
Earlier, Beauregard Parish reported downed trees and power lines.
Heavy rain is expected to last into the weekend.
