Criminal investigators with the Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office (VPSO) are making a public appeal for anyone who may have information leading to an arrest in the double homicide of a man and woman discovered in a burned vehicle in Maurice last month.
VPSO spokesperson Maj. Darryl Leblanc told KATC that the VPSO Criminal Investigations Division has interviewed "countless individuals" in an attempt to find the person responsible for this crime.
"We have persons of interest," said Leblanc.
On May 1, investigators identified the male victim found by deputies in the early morning hours of April 16 as 34-year-old Cody James Fell of Youngsville. Leblanc said that investigators are still attempting, using dental records and DNA, to confirm the identity of the female victim recovered with the body of Fell
Leblanc said that VPSO is cooperating with the state fire marshal, the Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office, the Vermilion Parish Coroner's Office, and even the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office to bring this investigation to a close.
Anyone with information about this double homicide is asked to contact the Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Criminal Investigations Division at 337-898-4403.
