While many were sleeping this past Saturday morning the Vermilion Municipal Narcotics Task says they were conducting a raid on one of the parish's biggest suspected narcotics dealers. After receiving information that Justin Williams was selling illicit narcotics, detectives say agents began an investigation on Good Friday which lead into the night and into Saturday morning. Armed with a search warrant, agents say they traveled to Schlessinger St in Abbeville. Upon executing the search warrant the Task Force agents say that along with the K-9 division, they began a meticulous search. After a complete search of the home and premises agents say they seized approximately five pounds of High Grade marijuana and a half pound of powder cocaine.
Detectives say the street value of the drugs is estimated at over $30,000.00. Agents say they also seized $10,324.00 in suspected drug proceed money, a vehicle, and other contraband used to manufacture the powder cocaine into crack cocaine.
Detectives say they arrested Justin Williams,27, of Schlessinger St in Abbeville and charged him with Possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, possession with the intent to distribute crack cocaine, manufacturing of crack cocaine and transactions involving drug proceed money. Total Bond set on Williams was $140,000. Detectives say Williams was on probation at the time of this incident.
Detectives say they also arrested Oris Briggs, 23, of S. Bailey in Abbeville, on Possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, possession with the intent to distribute crack cocaine, manufacturing of crack cocaine and transactions involving drug proceed money and total bond set was $140,000.00
