Vermilion Police Jury OKs hospital repair bid

ABBEVILLE, La. (AP) - The Vermilion Parish Police Jury has accepted a low bid of $890,045 from J. Reynolds & Co. Inc., of Saginaw, Texas, to repair the roof of Abbeville General Hospital
and provide wind abatement for the building.
It was the lowest of 13 bids received Monday from companies around Louisiana and the Gulf Coast.
On the advice of board engineer Eugene Sellers, the police jury unanimously authorized approval of the lowest bid pending the next meeting of the hospital board, scheduled for Oct. 26.
Rebecca Broussard, director of the Vermilion Parish Office of Emergency Preparedness, said money for the project was secured through Federal Emergency Management Agency hazard mitigation funds
stemming from Hurricane Rita in 2005, when the roof was damaged.
