The Vermilion Parish School Board has joined a lawsuit in which a number of Louisiana school districts claim they are owed back pay in state MFP funds.
According to Superintendent Jerome Puyau, the state had to revert back to an older MFP funding program when a judge found the most recent plan unconstitutional. The suit claims that the state owes school boards three years worth of funding under the previous MFP plan plus interest.
The St. John the Baptist Parish School Board originally filed the lawsuit.
