Update: School Evacuated Following Gas Line Rupture

Update: The gas line that ruptured is said to be a "small" one operated by Gulf South. It runs through Erath and Delcambre and is 2800 feet long. Officials say it's an old line, and they've been working on replacing it since October. State Police say the situation is controlled, and there are no injuries to report.


Update: According to City Council Member John Leblanc, there is a voluntary evacuation after a gas line ruptured in Erath. The fire department has closed several streets, including Primeaux, Ranger, and Old Sugar Mill Road. Dozier Elementary School students have been evacuated as precaution and taken to the Pope John II hall on South Broadway. Parents can pick up their children with proper ID.


There are reports of a gas line rupture in Erath by Dozier Elementary School. There are no report of injuries at this time. Dozier Elementary School has been evacuated to a church, near the high school. Stay tuned to our continuous news website for the latest information.
