UPDATE: Man Missing After Wrecking Car in Baldwin

MORE INFORMATION: St. Mary Parish Sheriff's officials are still trying to piece together the events leading up to Glenn Lemoine's death. His car was found on the Highway 90 East on ramp from Highway 83. He was last seen about 2 miles away, trying to hitchhike on the bridge over the Charenton Canal. Monday afternoon, his body was found in the Canal about 2 miles south of the bridge. Now, officials are trying to determine exactly how Lemoine got into the water.

"We still don't know how he got in the water... or how. Did he go off the bridge? Did he walk in? Did someone throw him in? We don't know any of that. So, until we can get a better idea from the Coroner's office, we're not going to go into all those speculations and what if's," said Sheriff David Naquin.

Naquin says there were no immediate signs of foul play, but they haven't ruled that out just yet.

UPDATE: We have an update to a story we brought you earlier...Family members of
Glenn Lemoine say his body has been found in a canal. He's the Patterson man who disappeared after wrecking his vehicle early Saturday morning. His daughter says witnesses say he was last seen trying to hitchhike in that same area. An autopsy is being done to figure out if any foul play is involved.

Still no word from a 60-year old Patterson man, missing since the wee hours of Saturday morning. Glenn Lemoine spent Friday night into early Saturday morning at a Charenton casino. His vehicle was found wrecked around 4:00 a.m.

Lemoine's family didn't know anything was wrong, until they hadn't heard from him for almost two days. That's when they found about his wrecked Honda Accord.

A ground search through grass and down Highway 83 got underway Monday morning. "I just want to find him and make sure he's okay, that he's alive," said his daughter Denise Lemoine.

His eleven children and their families joined St. Mary Parish Sheriff's detectives, in a search for clues. "Searching the ditches and the grass to see if maybe he fell, maybe he's hurt, just looking everywhere," said his daughter Marie Lemoine.

The hunt for answers began at the Highway 90-East on ramp, deep into the grass where deputies found his car. When Lemoine's Accord was discovered it was submerged in water up to the passenger side window.

"We looked inside and where was no trace of him, clothes or anything left in there and everything was just kinda scattered about the car," said his son Shawn Lemoine.

Lemoine's cell phone was missing, but Shawn said it hadn't been used since about four o'clock Saturday morning, just after the wreck.

Monday, the group searched the waterside hoping he didn't venture near it. "He had been drinking at the casino, our fear is he does not know how to swim, he's deathly afraid of water that he stumbled in the water somewhere," said Denise Lemoine.

Lemoine was wearing gray slacks, a white button down shirt and a dark blazer. If you saw anything call the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office at (337) 828-1960.
