UPDATE: Devin Haywood arrested for UL bomb threat, attempted bank robbery

One person is in custody in connection with last week's bomb threat at UL.

Devin Haywood, 30, is accused of both the bomb threat and an attempted armed robbery of a Moss Street bank.

Officials announced the arrest at a press conference held at 9:30 a.m. at the Lafayette Police Department.

The threat was called into the KATC newsroom at approximately 5:30 a.m. last Wednesday.  Police evacuated Girard Park and the UL campus.  Roads around campus were also closed, causing a virtual shutdown of all activity in the area.  Officials found a suspicious device in a trash can at Girard Park, but that device turned out to be non-explosive.
