UPDATE: All clear given after Broussard Middle School bomb scare

Authorities have declared an all clear at Broussard Middle School after a bomb threat was received Thursday morning.

Earlier this morning Broussard Middle School administrators were informed that a student had written on a bathroom stall's wall that there was a "pressure-cooker bomb" on the school's campus.

Students were immediately taken off of the school's grounds and brought to a safe and secure location. The Lafayette Police Department dispatched a SWAT team who successfully completed a check of the school's entire perimeter, concluding there to have been nothing of potentially threatening to the health and safety of Broussard Middle's students, faculty, or staff.

All students and staff have been allowed to return to campus where classes will resume as scheduled.

KATC's Chris Welty will have more information at 5 p.m.
