Unsettled & Occasionally Wet Sunday thru Mardi Gras

After a relatively quiet and mostly cloudy pattern for Acadiana's Friday and Saturday, the weather pattern looks to become quite unsettled for the latter part of the weekend through Mardi Gras with fairly high rain chances possible.

An approaching frontal boundary will induce windy conditions and a good chance of showers and thunderstorms Sunday, some of which could be potentially quite strong, perhaps severe. The front will slow to a crawl Monday and will likely park in the Northern Gulf of Mexico keeping healthy shower and thunderstorm chances close by.

An area of low pressure may develop along the front Monday night into Tuesday allowing for the risk of soaking rains across the area for our Mardi Gras.

Hopefully the activity will come to an end for the afternoon parades Tuesday, but it appears that umbrellas/ponchos will be required for Lundi and Mardi Gras festivities.

Cooler/drier weather will advance into the region Wednesday through Friday but another storms system could bring healthy rain chances back to the area for next weekend.

Forecast as of Thursday afternoon for the holiday weekend...
