UL Veteran's Day Ceremony

In honor of Veterans Day, there will be two events on campus: the first will be held from 10-12 in front of Lee Hall and the second from 12:45 to approximately 1:15.

The College Republicans, College Democrats, the Political Science Club, and the Student Government Association is hosting a Veterans Day Event from 10-12 in front of Lee Hall. Booths will be set up for letters to the men and women overseas, donations booths and a "We Support our Troops" ribbons booth set up with a cake sponsored by SGA. Two veterans will be speaking, one of them being UL History Professor, Dr. James Wooderson, a former marine. An 87-year-old woman whose husband died in World War 2 will be reading a poem that he wrote and published before he died. The ROTC will be delivering a presentation, and a choir will sing the National Anthem.

At 12:45 p.m., the Student Veterans Organization of UL-Lafayette is sponsoring a National Remembrance Day Roll Call between Lafayette Hall and Vermilion Hall.

Campuses across the nation are observing a simultaneous "minute of silence" at 11:00 a.m. PST and will conduct a roll call of names of wounded and fallen service members. UL Lafayette will hold our minute of silence at 1:00 p.m. We will gather at 12:45 p.m. for a brief presentation and the minute of silence will take place at 1:00 p.m. with the roll call beginning immediately after.
