LAFAYETTE, La. - The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns softball team picked up a pair of complete game victories from Christina Hamilton and Jordan Wallace, as they defeated the Texas State Bobcats, 5-2 in both games, on Saturday at Lamson Park.
The Cajuns (24-6-1, 5-0) won their ninth straight game and their 16th in the last 17 outings, and have now swept every doubleheader they have played this season.
Christina Hamilton picked up her career-high 12th win of the season in the opener, holding the Bobcats to two runs on four hits and striking out 11 batters. Her 11 strikeouts marks her most since Feb. 28 when she fanned 14 against UTSA.
The Cajuns took an early lead in game one, with a two-out single by Lexie Elkins, but a misplayed ball by the right fielder allowed Haley Hayden to come around from first base and give the Cajuns a 1-0 lead.
The Bobcats responded in the second with a two-out solo home run by Katie Doerre, her first of the day, to tie the game. It was the first run scored on Hamilton since March 18 in the second game against Oklahoma.
The Cajuns responded with four unanswered runs, scoring two in the third, one in the fourth and one in the sixth on three RBI singles from Lexie Elkins, Corin Voinché and Natalie Fernandez. Elkins drove in Haley Hayden and Fernandez in the third, and Voinché drove in Sara Corbello in the fourth. Fernandez picked up her second RBI of the season in the sixth, driving in Meagan Thomas.

The Cajuns grabbed another first-inning run in game two, this time with a solo home run of their own, off the bat of Haley Hayden. It was Hayden's 11th home run of the season and fourth coming in the first inning.
Just like game one, the Bobcats tied the game up in the top of the second with a bases loaded walk by Wallace.
The Cajuns responded with a three-run third inning, sparked by a two-run homer from Samantha Walsh, her second home run of the season and in as many series'. They added one more run on a wild pitch, scoring Shelbi Redfearn, to make it 4-1 at the time.
Louisiana added one more run in the fifth when Thomas came around to score on a dropped line drive by the center fielder, off the bat of Natalie Fernandez, making it 5-1.
The Bobcats put up fight in the sixth, getting their first hit of the ball game, despite already scoring a run in the second, with a solo home run by Doerre, her second of the day and fifth of the season, making it 5-2. Wallace got out of the inning to get the sweep for the Cajuns striking out two of the final three batters.
Wallace tossed 7.0 innings, allowing two runs on two hits and striking out ten batters. It was her third game this season with double-digit strikeouts.
Elkins had a pair of two-hit games on the day, going 2-for-4 in the first game and 2-for-3 in the second, with two RBI in game one.
The Cajuns and Bobcats will return to the diamond tomorrow for the series finale, with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m. at Lamson Park. The Cajuns will then take to the road for four games, with a three-game set at Western Kentucky on April 5-6, and a single game on April 9 at Northwestern State.
