On Aug. 8, the University of Louisiana will hold its first summer commencement ceremony since 1949.
Undergraduate, graduate and doctoral degree diplomas will be conferred during the University of Louisiana at Lafayette's Summer 2014 Commencement ceremony.
Commencement exercises will begin at 11 a.m. in the Convention Center adjacent to the Cajundome. The ceremony will be held in Exhibit Hall B, which is on the first floor.
The University will confer about 160 degrees.
Ceremonies now will be held three times each year, once in the fall, once in the spring and once in the summer.
Summer Commencement is being reintroduced to give graduating seniors an opportunity to participate in a ceremony without having to wait until the fall semester. The University first held Summer Commencement in the 1930s.
All graduates are required to attend and participate in full regalia.
