Two Arrests In A Shooting Near Rayne

The Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office said two men have been arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred around 3:00 a.m. Friday morning on the corner of Hwy 95 and Tanner Road near Rayne.

Acadia Parish Sheriff Wayne Melancon said investigators obtained an arrest warrant for 18 year old Jake A. Kebodeaux of Ethienne Street in Maurice. He was arrested on Friday afternoon, and placed in the Acadia Parish Jail charged with five counts of attempted second degree murder.

Deputies said on Sunday afternoon a second suspect, 19 year old Tyler Carpenter of Dulles Drive in Scott, turned himself into authorities in Acadia Parish. He is also being charged with five counts of attempted second degree murder.

District Judge John Trahan set bond at $100,000 for both Carpenter and Kebodeaux.

The Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office said the Scott Police Department assisted them in the investigation.
