Two teenagers are behind bars on Aggravated Burglary charges in Opelousas. Police say Monday at approximately 11:20 p.m., a resident at a home on Park Circle opened his door to find two masked men. According to police, the men pushed the resident into the home and demanded money. Police say that's when one of the suspects hit the resident in the head with a gun. Investigators say the suspects took off with the $40.00 in the victim's wallet and two handguns. A short time later, police say they saw two men on Cane Street matching the description of the suspects in the burglary. After a brief struggle, the two suspects were arrested. Police say two handguns, one of which was stolen from the victim's home, was also found.
18-year-old Hunter Ozene and 18-year-old Kenon Richard, both of Opelousas, were charged with Aggravated Burglary, Resisting an Officer, and Illegal Possession of a Stolen Firearm. Both are in the Opelousas jail and will go before a judge Wednesday morning.
Investigators say Ozene knew the victim because he had accepted a job recently to cut the victim's grass. The victim was not seriously injured in the incident.
