Morgan City police say a truck and an incident at the Morgan City Federal Credit Union could be connected to the MC Bank robbery around 11:05 this morning in Bayou Vista. Morgan City Police spokesman Capt. James Blair says a suspicious man seen at the credit union shortly before the MC Bank robbery fits the description of the robber. It hasn't been determined yet if the man caught on surveillance video is the same man accused of robbing the bank, but credit union employees called police after "a suspicious person who was unable to gain access to the credit union building and left the vicinity," Blair said.
When police viewed the video, the man was seen trying to place a cloth over his face inside the credit union but left the building after seeing no one at the counter, Blair said. The man left in a red pickup truck with a silver stripe on the side and a handicap placard on the rearview mirror.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff's deputies are investigating the Bayou Vista robbery and say witnesses described the man as white, wearing blue jeans, dark colored shoes, and a baseball cap. Morgan City police describe the man as white, between 35 and 45 , 6 ft tall, 150-160 pounds, wearing a dark hoodie jacket, jeans and dark shoes. The man also had a dark hat with what appeared to be a "Toronto Blue Jay", "Philadelphia Eagle" or similar emblem.
