Although not a threat to Acadiana there is a newly developed tropical storm in the southern Gulf of Mexico/Bay of Campeche.
This evening Tropical Depression 6 was upgraded to Tropical Storm Fernand. Winds are currently at 40 mph, and is moving west at 9 mph.
Landfall is expected early Monday morning along the Mexican coast line, before quickly downgrading back to a tropical depression.
Eyes will be on the Atlantic where conditions are looking better for a tropical wave coming off the African coast that some models are predicting will become a tropical system. This development would be close to a week away, but will be worth keeping in the back of your mind.
