JENNINGS, La. (AP) - State police stopped a van for a traffic
violation near Jennings, and confiscated almost 20 pounds of
cocaine while arresting two Clearwater, Fla. men.
According to a news release, troopers pulled the van over Tuesday on Interstate 10 and a drug-sniffing dog alerted them to the presence of drugs. Approximately 19.6 pounds of cocaine with an estimated street value of $712,000 was located inside the vehicle.
Troopers arrested the driver, 49-year-old Antonio D. Shawders and booked him with improper lane usage and possession with intent to distribute cocaine. The passenger in the vehicle, 28-year-old Darrell T. Currington. Currington was booked with possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession of marijuana, and resisting arrest. Both individuals were booked into the Jefferson Davis Parish Jail.
