In a joint attempt to catch online predators, Louisiana State Police and the FBI say they arrested Micah Landry of Erath. Police say, Landry allegedly arranged to meet what he thought was a minor. Landry's arrest is just one of many by State Police.
Troopers say, they created an online chat account posing as an underage girl. In conversations with Landry, State Trooper Stephen Hammons says, "He brought up sexual details about what he wanted to do with the girl. He also sent sexually explicit photographs of himself." Hammons says every online solicitation is serious, but what Landry allegedly brought along with him, made Troopers act quickly. "The state police has an entire division dedicated solely to locate online predators. Trying to keep children safe is one of our main goals, but the part that is so startling and worrisome about this case is the fact that he was not only in possession of not only a firearm but a stolen firearm at that," Trooper Hammons says .
Watching your child every minute of the day isn't always possible, but State Police say there are several ways you can protect your child from on-line predators: Monitor the websites your child uses, limit their time on the internet. State police suggest visiting www.netsmartz.org, which teaches children how to recognize potential internet risks.
