Trooper Brooks David Talks About "Move Over" Campaign

GMA is proud to welcome Louisiana State Police Troop I Public Information Officer Brooks David. He will be appearing on Good Morning Acadiana each Tuesday morning between 6:30 and 6:40, as his schedule allows, answering questions from our viewers and letting Acadiana know about important topics as they relate to the public.

This week, he informed us about the "Move Over" campaign. Trooper David explained that it is a statewide and national campaign reminding motorists that, if they see an emergency vehicle of any type on the shoulder of the road, they are to switch into the other lane to give that vehicle ample room. If switching lanes is impossible, the motorist should reduce their speed by at least 20mph. This is a state law.

Trooper David is taking over the duties of PIO for Trooper Stephen Hammons who has held the position for about 5 years. Trooper Hammons will remain with Troop I in other capacities. We will miss seeing him every week, as we know you will, but look forward to seeing him on the roadways of Acadiana (hopefully not for a traffic violation!).

Welcome to GMA, Trooper David! If you have a question for Trooper David, email it to
