OBERLIN, La. (AP) - A July 16 trial date has been set for an Allen Parish School Board member accused of stealing more than $2,100 from an area casino where he worked.
The American Press reports 46-year-old Keith Welch of Oakdale pleaded not guilty last April. He was arrested on four counts of felony theft and two counts of misdemeanor theft in September 2010.
Welch allegedly took money from several machines over a 10-day period while employed as a kiosk drop team manager at Coushatta Casino Resort in Kinder.
The state had offered to dismiss the charges against Welch under a pretrial diversion agreement if he resigned his seat, made restitution to the casino and avoided arrest.
A spokeswoman for the state Attorney General's Office says Welch failed to resign or make restitution.
