The Town of Arnaudville had to shut off part of its water system today due to a system upgrade. The customers affected are in an area from Pound Street going north including Pound Street, Bagstill Street, Market Street, St. Landry Street and St. Joseph Street.
Because of the shut-off, the water produced by our water supply system in that area is of questionable microbiological quality.
Therefore, as a precaution, the Town of Arnaudville water supply system is issuing a BOIL ADVISORY effective immediately. This BOIL ADVISORY is to remain in effect until rescinded by the Town of Arnaudville water supply system.
It is recommended that all customers disinfect their water before consuming it (including fountain drinks), making ice, brushing teeth, using it for food preparation or rinsing of foods by the following means:
Boil water for one (1) full minute in a clean container. The one minute starts after the water has been brought to a tolling boil. (The flat taste can be eliminated by shaking the water in a clean bottle, pouring it from one container to another, or by adding a pinch of salt to each quart of water that is boiled.
The Town of Arnaudville will rescind this Boil Advisory upon notification from the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals - Office of Public Health that samples collected from the water supply system have shown the water to be safe.
