A Pizza Hut employee is accused of sending in bomb threats to the restaurant he worked at. Lake Charles Police say a bomb threat was reported January 13, January 15, and January 16th at the Pizza Hut located at 4445 Nelson Road.
Police say employees received text messages from various unrecognized phone numbers, warning of a bomb and an imminent explosion.
The business, as well as the surrounding businesses, were evacuated. No suspicious items were found. Besides the police department, the Lake Charles Fire Department, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office, Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, and emergency medical personnel responded.
Police say through interviews and search warrants, they discovered a Pizza Hut employee, identified as Justin Edwards, sent the messages to fellow employees.
Edwards was arrested on January 22, 2014 and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center.
Edwards is charged with Communicating of False Information of Planned Arson.
