Three alleged burglars busted by Acadia Parish deputies

Deputies arrested three alleged burglars, two from Eunice and another from Rayne, shortly before noon on Wednesday.

According to Acadia Parish Sheriff Wayne Melancon, the arrests were in response to a reported burglary at a residence in the 4300 block of White Oak Hwy near Branch. When deputies immediately responded to the area, they were able to arrest two of the suspects near Hwy 365 & Hwy 367. Deputies said that a third suspect fled into the nearby field and was apprehended several hours later. With the apprehension of the three burglars, more than a dozen weapons allegedly stolen from the residence were recovered.

Three men have arrested and charged with Aggravated Burglary following an investigation into an incident that occurred shortly before noon on Wednesday. Charged with aggravated burglary were Nicklous Thomas, 27, and Cody Woodruff, 17, both of Eunice, as well as Brandon Guillory, 20, of Rayne.

Melancon praised the personal involvement of the concerned individual who reported the suspicious activity to police. The sheriff also commended rural community, which included farmers, whom he says assisted law enforcement in the location and apprehension of the third suspect.

The three alleged burglars were booked into the Acadia Parish Jail and no bond has been set at this time.
