The UFC Gym in Lafayette offers a variety of classes and training to suit your needs.
"It is a good way to get cardio in if you don't like cardio because it's pretty much an hour of moving," trainer Gene Kelso says.
The kick boxing class allows you to work at your own pace, while pushing your workout at the same time. Through warm up, shadow boxing, kick boxing on a punching bag, and core exercises, you'll get a full workout in an hour for a high caloric burn.
"You cover everything and you can burn anywhere from 500 to 800 to 1000 calories in an hour," Kelso said.
The class is inclusive of men and women of all age groups. The trainers will show you step by step how to punch and kick offering 1 on 1 guidance during the class.
"I had a 73-year-old lady that came and did the kickboxing class at 6 a.m. one day and she made it through. She took her breaks and everything, but anybody can do it."
