Today, The Leader in Me Symposium Series, a professional-development conference, hosted by FraklinCovey visited Judice Middle and will stop at Plantation Elementary at 1 p.m. The conference travels to 16 cities across North America, making a two-day stop at each school.
The educational leadership symposium attracts educators, government and business leaders, and community stakeholders who are looking to support schools in developing 21st-century leaders. The Symposium Series will be in Acadiana from February 20-21 and is a partnership with United Way of Acadiana.
"The Leader in Me has had an amazing effect on schools across the world," said Sarah Berthelot, United Way of Acadiana's chief operating officer.
The Leader in Me is a whole-school transformation process based on The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. The Leader in Me produces transformational results such as higher academic achievement, fewer discipline problems, and increased engagement among teachers and parents with the focus on equipping students with the self-confidence and skills they need to thrive in the future.
"Daily we hear stories of children leading in remarkable ways, staff collaborating like never before, and communities coming together to create transformational change," says Sean Covey, FranklinCovey's Education Practice Leader. "This is a lasting tribute to my father, Dr. Stephen R. Covey, who saw The Leader in Me as the pinnacle of his life's work."
