Tuesday was supposed to be a day of family fun at Moore Park, but it turned into a nightmare for one family.
Police say two teens were swimming in the pond at the back of the park during a family barbecue. 17-year-old Christlyn Willis was one of those teens and started shouting for help. He went under the water and never came up.
After a three hour search, deputies and officers pulled Willis' body from the pond. His family waiting nearby for the moment he was finally pulled out.
"He loved riding horses, trail rides, fishing, and playing with his dogs," his aunt, Rachael Sylvester, said.
Now, the family only has the memories and photos to remember their loved one.
"He was just a wonderful kid that loved his mother. His mother was his best friend," Rachael Sylvester said.
The family says that Christlyn did know how to swim, but he may have got a cramp while in the water.
