LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) - A Lake Charles teenager accused of killing his aunt has changed his plea to not guilty by reason of insanity.
The American Press reports the 17-year-old, who is charged with second-degree murder, pleaded not guilty in November.
The teen changed his plea Tuesday in state District Judge David Ritchie's court. A pretrial conference has been set for Oct. 4. The teen is accused of fatally shooting 40-year-old Susan Doise, an aunt with whom he lived, in September.
Her body was found in the bathroom of her home. Police say her 4-year-old child was reportedly found hiding under the covers in a nearby bedroom.
