HAMMOND, La. (AP) - Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Daniel Edwards is asking the public for help in solving the still unexplained death of 23-year-old Joseph David Hayden, whose body was found in a field near his home 14 years ago Sunday.
The sheriff's office says Hayden was reported missing April 12, 2000. His truck, keys and belongings were intact but there was no sign of him. His body was found the next day.
An autopsy revealed that Hayden's death was of unknown causes and reflected a negative toxicology report.
The sheriff's office says almost 14 years later, detectives still have no answers.
CrimeStoppers is offering up to $1,000 in cash for information leading to the closure of the case. Edwards is asking anyone with information regarding Hayden's death to come forward or call 800-554-5245.
