The man accused of shooting a pastor during a service will face a manslaughter charge instead of a murder charge. The Calcasieu Parish District Attorney's office says Woodrow Karey killed Pastor Ronald J. Harris Senior in a Lake Charles church in September. The grand jury met today and indicted him on the lesser charge; he was originally charged with second-degree murder.
Deputies say Karey's wife filed a rape complaint against Harris two days before the shooting. Authorities say there was a relationship between Karey's wife and Harris, but did not say whether it was consensual.
