Another year and another star could be blossoming on the prep diamond. For a second consecutive year, STM and Acadiana will be represented at the Perfect Game All-American Classic. Lefthanded pitcher Hogan Harris has been selected to play at the prestigous event to be played at Petco Park in San Diego at 3:00PM on Sunday, August 10th. Harris will play for the East squad.
Harris is in good company participating in the event. Former teammate Chase Vallot was selected last summer and used that en route to an All-American senior year capped off by being drafted 40th overall by the Kansas City Royals in the MLB Draft. Harris is the lone Louisiana representative for this year's event.
The 6-2, 195-pound Harris is already commited to play for UL and is on the Marucci Elite club team. Harris has drawn rave reviews for a fastball in the mid-80s and topping out at 94 miles per hour according to his Perfect Game profile.
Harris played a vital role in St. Thomas More's 2014 Class 4A State Championship. The southpaw struck out 11 and allowed just two hits in 4.2 innings in a 4-1 victory over St. Michael's. For the season, Harris was 3-0 in 6 appearances with a 0.84 ERA allowing just 4 hits and 2 earned runs while striking out 31. During his varsity career at STM, Harris is a perfect 10-0 with a 1.19 ERA.
