The health conscious might worry about fat content and counting calories, but what about that food making you sick?
The state launched a new website that allows you to see the sanitary conditions of nearly 34,000 Louisiana restaurants.
"We try to be as prepared as we can and as fast we can can to get them in and out in a clean proper manner," said Gallagher's manager Norma Broussard.
Broussard says making sure everything is clean---from the tables to the utensils is top priority.
"We have to change our cutting boards, change out different things, change out knives, wipe down a station before starting another project... we don't want any cross contamination," she said.
"Our restaurants in the state are one of our greatest resources and assets," said Bruce Greenstein Secretary of the Department of Health and Hospitals.
Greenstein says the "Eat Safe" website provides easy access for eaters to see how clean their favorite food spots are...
"They're able to go online and check out and see not just the most recent, but also historically to see surveys from back then to see how their favorite restaurant has done," said Greenstein.
Before this website, anyone curious about a restaurant's sanitary conditions had to visit their local sanitarian services office, which could be a hassle.
"Definitely not self-service in your own home that's for sure," said Greenstein.
He believes this is also a great tool for restaurant owners.
"It allows them to monitor their own progress and performance."
"If you have nothing to hide there's nothing to be scared of. I want to know how safe and sanitized a restaurant is," said Broussard.
