According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, over the last 24 hour reporting period the Sheriff's Office responded to 45 complaints and reports the following arrests:
Michael Luke, Jr., 40, 131 Schawn Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on April 1, 2014 at 8:31 am on a warrant from Saline County Sheriff's Office (Illinois) for failure to appear on the charges of aggravated battery, unlawful restraint, domestic battery, and resisting an officer. A deputy located Luke at his residence after receiving information from the Saline County Sheriff's Office that he was wanted on the warrant. Luke was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set.
Joseph Gilchrist, 21, 1317 Tarlton Street, Jeanerette, LA was arrested on April 1, 2014 at 11:37 pm for disturbing the peace. A deputy responded to a complaint from a lounge in Franklin regarding a subject attempting to fight with other patrons. The deputy identified the subject as Gilchrist and located him walking on Highway 182 in the Baldwin area. Upon making contact with Gilchrist, the deputy smelled the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath and person. Following the investigation, Gilchrist was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. Bond is set at $500.
David Foret, 43, 518 Linda Ann Avenue, Gray, LA was arrested on April 2, 2014 at 9:00 am for improper lane usage, driving while intoxicated 2nd offense, and open alcoholic container in a motor vehicle. A deputy travelling on Highway 90 in the Berwick area observed a pick-up truck cross the fog line and onto the shoulder of the roadway multiple times. The deputy conducted a traffic stop in Bayou Vista and made contact with the driver, identified as Foret. The deputy smelled a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on Foret's breath and body. Foret was also observed to be swaying back and forth where he stood and slurring his speech as he spoke with the deputy. The deputy received consent to search the vehicle and located an open beer inside the truck. Foret performed poorly on the field sobriety test and later registered a .077g% on the Intoxilyzer 5000 breath test. Foret was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set.
Quentin J. Dugar, 23, 1805 N Street, Patterson, LA was arrested on April 1, 2014 at 6:53 pm on the following charges:
- Possession of Schedule I (marijuana) 2nd offense
- Possession of Legend Drug (Phenergan) without a prescription
- Following too close
- Open alcoholic container in a motor vehicle
Detectives of the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office Narcotics Division conducted a traffic stop on Main Street in Patterson on a vehicle for following too closely to another vehicle. During the traffic stop investigation, detectives located marijuana, Phenergan pills, and an open alcoholic beverage. The driver, identified as Dugar, was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set.
Roosevelt James, Jr., 24, 195 Emily Lane, Baldwin, LA was arrested on April 1, 2014 at 7:08 pm for possession of Schedule I (marijuana) and stop sign violation. Narcotics detectives patrolling the Baldwin area observed a vehicle fail to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of Bollard Street and Martin Luther King Street. Detectives conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, identified as James. Detectives received consent to search and located marijuana on James' person and in an ash tray inside the vehicle. James was released on a summons to appear in court on July 11, 2014.
Kirby Madison, Jr., 23, 1903 Pine Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on April 1, 2014 at 9:16 pm for possession of Schedule I (marijuana), possession of Schedule I (synthetic cannabinoids), and possession of drug paraphernalia. Narcotics detectives patrolling the Franklin area observed a subject sitting in a vehicle parked near the intersection of Hwy. 182 and Arlington Road. Several minutes later, the vehicle remained parked at the location with the subject still sitting inside. Detectives made contact with the subject, identified as Madison. Detectives received consent to search and located marijuana, synthetic cannabinoids, and cigars. Madison admitted to using the cigars to smoke the drugs. Madison was released on a summons to appear in court on July 11, 2014.
