According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, during the last 24 hour reporting period the Sheriff's Office responded to 44 complaints and reports the following arrests:
Cynthia O'Gara, 28, 112 Arrnold Street, Amelia, LA was arrested on July 18, 2013 at 7:30 am on a warrant for issuing worthless checks. While looking for another subject at the residence above, a deputy made contact with O'Gara who was also wanted on a warrant. O'Gara was released on a summons to appear in court on October 9, 2013.
John F. Vandercook, 39, 112 Arnold Street, Amelia, LA was arrested on July 18, 2013 at 8:32 am on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of criminal neglect of family. Earlier that morning, a deputy visited Vandercook's residence to serve the warrant (see previous arrest). Vandercook came to the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office in Morgan City. He was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set.
Louis H. Opperman, 80, 3110 Tammy Drive, Morgan City, LA was arrested on July 18, 2013 at 11:31 am for failure to appear on the charge of possession of commercial fish without a vessel license, using crab traps without required markings, and operating a motor boat with an expired registration certificate. A deputy located Opperman at the SMPSO in Morgan City on the warrant. He was released on a summons to appear in court on October 9, 2013.
Brennan Skinner, 21, 1061 Grace Street, Siracusaville, LA was arrested on July 18, 2013 at 1:49 pm for nauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling, resisting an officer with force, and on warrants for resisting an officer, 2 counts aggravated flight from an officer, reckless operation of a vehicle, and stop sign violation. While patrolling the Siracusaville area, deputies observed Skinner in a vehicle parked on Ciro Street. Deputies knew that Skinner was wanted on the warrants. Upon seeing the deputies, Skinner fled on foot, ignoring deputies' verbal commands to stop. Deputies tracked Skinner through the yards of several residences to Grace Street where he entered a home. With permission to enter the home, deputies located Skinner on a baby bed and apprehended him. Skinner was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set.
Seth Ward, 20, 207 North Main Street, Ellehart, TX was arrested on July 18, 2013 at 3:31 pm for underage driving under the influence and open alcoholic container in a motor vehicle. A deputy located a vehicle matching the description from a report of reckless driver on Highway 90 in the Centerville area. The deputy observed the vehicle cross onto the shoulder of the roadway multiple times and conducted a traffic stop. Upon making contact with the driver, identified as Ward, the deputy detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath. Through further investigation the deputy located open containers of alcohol in the vehicle. Ward performed poorly on a field sobriety test. He later registered a 0.09g% on the Intoxilyzor 5000 breath test. The crime of underage operating a vehicle while intoxicated is the operating of a motor vehicle when the operator's blood alcohol concentration is 0.02g% or more. Ward was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set.
Barrow Marks, 59, 537 Saint Peter Street, Jeanerette, LA was arrested on July 18, 2013 at 7:43 pm on a warrant for theft. A deputy located Marks at his residence on the warrant. Marks was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. He was released on a $1,000 bond.
Giovanni Landero, 19, 1172 Lakeview Drive, Amelia, LA was arrested on July 19, 2013 at 2:14 am for failure to signal, no insurance, possession of open alcoholic beverages in a motor vehicle, possession of alcohol by persons under 21, and no driver's license. A deputy patrolling the Patterson area observed a vehicle fail to signal a turn and conducted a traffic stop. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Landero. During the investigation, the deputy discovered that Landero was driving without a license and insurance. An open alcoholic beverage was also located in the vehicle. Landero was released on a summons to appear in court on October 9, 2013.
Marcus Jay Hamilton, 18, 1715 Guyther St., Patterson, LA was arrested on July 18, 2013 at 4:24 pm on a warrant for cultivation of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Detectives of the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office Narcotics Division located Hamilton at his residence on the warrant. The warrant stems from a February narcotics investigation, conducted in conjunction with a homicide investigation, during which a small marijuana grow was located. Hamilton was given a summons to appear in court on September 17, 2013. He remains under house arrest.
