The search is over for a St. Landry Parish man who is wanted for questioning in the disappearance of his wife.
Arthur Tillet was located in Georgia, and is a person of interest in the case. His wife, 64-year-old Sanndra Tillet, was last seen by neighbors in July.
Over the weekend, Sandra Tillet's daughter alerted authorities, who questioned Arthur Tillet at his home near Opelousas. However just days later, Tillet himself was nowhere to be found.
Deputies say there are conflicting stories about what happened to his wife.
Neighbors of Arthur Tillet say they always had their suspicions about him.
"I didn't trust him, my dogs didn't trust him, so I just stayed away from him," says Tillet's neighbor, Angelle Henry.
Henry says about six months ago her family noticed that Sandra Tillet wasn't around so they asked her husband about her.
"He told my step-daddy that his wife died of cancer and she was sick and he had buried her," Henry said.
But for Henry, that story just didn't add up.
"She was fine and it was just it wasn't right," Henry said.
Tillet's story didn't seem right to deputies either.
"He was telling deputies that she was sick, and she had been in the hospital and that she wasn't there. So we asked what hospital was she in and he couldn't give us that information," St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz said.
Sheriff Guidroz says deputies left early this morning for Georgia to question Arthur Tillet more on his wife's disappearance. He says if they have enough information, an arrest could be made.
"Hopefully we can bring him back with information and hopefully bring him back so that he can can at least work with us," Sheriff Guidroz said.
If you have any information on the whereabouts of Sandra Tillet call St. Landry Parish Crimestoppers.
