SORRENTO, La. (AP) - Overspending of nearly $75,000 has forced Sorrento officials to rework the town's 2011-12 budget.
The Advocate reports the town council agreed on a 4-0 vote Tuesday to approve an ordinance amending the 2011-12 budget, reducing the amounts of some funds and increasing the total expenses and revenue from $1.078 million to $1.1 million.
Mayor Pro Tem Randy Anny blamed a lack of communication among governing officials for contributing to the line-item overages, but declined to name who was at fault.
Anny said officials had to move money around in the budget to cover extra expenses in some budget line items including accountant and legal fees, maintenance and fuel costs.
The city's fiscal year ends June 30.
