Thirty six students at Northwest High School in Opelousas will have to retake their end-of-course standardized tests on Wednesday due to an error in the way the tests were administered.
St. Landry Parish Schools Superintendent Edward Brown confirmed that a teacher error is to blame. The retesting will cost the district $12,000, Brown said, which is typically levied on the school where the error took place.
State Department of Education spokesman Barry Landry said administrative errors in testing can be self-reported by the district or reported to the district by the education department.
Brown declined to comment on whether the teacher in question will face disciplinary action.
