Some soldiers of the 256th Infantry Brigade are leaving for their second or third deployment-- and they say it does not get any easier with time.
One Opelousas family, the Everetts, say it is actually harder than the first time, because now they have 2 kids: 10-year-old Madeline and 12-year-old Nick.
Sergeant Shawn Everett is coming up on 2 decades of military commitment, and he and his wife Tanisha say they can never truly get used to the lifestyle.
"No, not used to it. It's heartbreaking," says Tanisha.
Shawn will train for 2 months in Camp Shelby before being sent overseas.
"I'm sad. I'm going to miss my family a lot," he says.
Tanisha and her mother, Bernice, say no matter how many times they see Shawn leave, they can never truly learn to cope, but they try.
"Just spending time with family, trying to keep everything as normal as possible," says Tanisha.
Bernice adds, "I really appreciate everything he's done for me and my family and we love him."
