SMPSO Daily Arrest Report

According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, during the last 72 hour reporting period the Sheriff's Office responded to 132 complaints and reports the following arrests:

Sky Michael Leger, 32, last known address of Irish Bend Road, Franklin, LA was arrested on October 25, 2013 at 2:39 pm on a warrant for simple burglary (felony). The warrant stems from an investigation into a burglary that occurred at an industrial property on Highway 90 in the Calumet area. Leger was asked to come to the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office in Franklin in reference to the investigation. He was subsequently taken into custody on the warrant. Leger was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set. A picture of Leger is included.

NOTE: This arrest is the result of an investigation into another business burglary that occurred on Highway 317 in the Bayou Sale area in which suspect Scott Carter was arrested. An additional charge against Carter is being filed for his involvement in the Calumet burglary. Carter was taken into custody by Berwick Police on October 19, 2013 on St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office warrants as well as several other charges. He remains in the Berwick jail at this time.

Sidney Elair, 55, 8509 Highway 90 Frontage Road, Centerville, LA was arrested on October 25, 2013 at 5:39 pm for disturbing the peace intoxicated, cruelty to the infirm, resisting a police officer with force, and simple assault. A deputy responded to a complainant who was concerned about the welfare of an elderly woman. While at the residence, the deputy witnessed Elair threaten family members. During the course of the investigation, the deputy learned that Elair was intentionally neglecting an elderly female family member by not allowing her to eat. While placing Elair under arrest, he attempted to fight with deputies. Elair was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set. A picture of Elair is included.

Valerie M. Soto, 30, 131 Velma Court, Morgan City, LA was arrested on October 25, 2013 at 6:39 pm for theft. A deputy responded to a complaint of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista. Upon arrival, the deputy learned from store personnel that Soto was seen concealing items on her person before attempting to elave the store without paying for the merchandise. Soto was released on a summons to appear in court on January 10, 2014.

Mong Tuyen Thi Duval, 28, 504 Williams Street, Patterson, LA was arrested on October 25, 2013 at 9:41 pm for theft. A deputy responded to a complaint of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista. Upon arrival, the deputy learned from store personnel that Duval was seen concealing items in her purse. Duval then attempted to leave the store without purchasing the items. She was released on a summons to appear in court on January 10, 2014.

Renel Garrison, 33, 625 8th Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on October 25, 2013 at 9:06 pm on a warrant from Franklin Police for failure to appear on the charge of stop sign violation. During a traffic stop, a deputy made contact with Garrison and discovered the active warrant for her arrest. Garrison was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. She was released on a $199 bond.

Brent Derouen, 37, 1603 Jordan Street, New Iberia, LA was arrested on October 26, 2013 at 3:05 am on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of theft. A deputy came into contact with Derouen and learned of the warrant for his arrest. Derouen was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. He was released on a $1,000 bond.

Jose A. Carrasco, 31, 181 Martin Lane, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on October 26, 2013 at 3:47 pm for hit and run driving, no driver's license, and reckless operation of a motor vehicle. A deputy responded to report of a single vehicle crash on Highway 90 in the Siracusa area. According to a witness, the driver of the vehicle was travelling at a high rate of speed when the vehicle struck the side of an overpass and careened into the nearby woods. The driver got out of the vehicle and ran into the woods. Using the description provided by the witness, the deputy located the subject who was identified as Carrasco. Following an investigation, Carrasco was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. Bond is set at $1,750.

Gabrielle Derouen, 18, 109 Robicheaux Lane, Verdunville, LA was arrested on October 26, 2013 at 6:03 pm for disturbing the peace by using foul language. Deputies responded to a complaint of a disturbance at a residence on Robicheaux Lane. Deputies learned that Derouen and another subject were engaged in a verbal altercation. Deputies advised Derouen to stay away from the subject. Shortly after leaving the area, deputies received a second complaint from the home. When deputies arrived they witnessed Derouen yelling profanities at a victim. Also, there were small children present. Derouen was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. Bond is set at $500.

Tanisha Wilkerson, 28, 1116 Grace Street, Morgan City, LA was arrested on October 26, 2013 at 7:22 pm on warrants for probation violation and failure to appear on the charge of theft. A deputy received information regarding Wilkerson's whereabouts and located her on the warrants at the Siracusa Recreational Center. Wilkerson was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set.

Kendall Ray Frank, 34, 1111 Dora Street, Morgan City, LA was arrested on October 26, 2013 at 9:54 pm on three warrants for failure to appear on the charges of speeding, do driver's license, stop sign violation, and driving under suspension. A deputy was contacted by Patterson Police regarding Frank who was being held on warrants for St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office. Frank was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. Bond is set at $5,674.

Gerald Wayne Crooks, 52, 374 Degravelle Road, Amelia, LA was arrested on October 27, 2013 at 8:53 am for reckless operation of a vehicle. A deputy responded to a report of a motorist driving recklessly near Duhon Boulevard and Lake Palourde Road in Amelia. After receiving a description from the complainant, the deputy located the vehicle and the driver identified as Crooks. Following an investigation, Crooks was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. Bond is set at $500.

Kristy Davis, 33, 14 Natalie Lane, Calumet, LA was arrested on October 27, 2013 at 12:01 pm for simple battery. A deputy responded to a complaint of a disturbance on Natalie Lane. During the course of the investigation, the deputy learned that Davis was involved in an argument with another female subject when Davis pushed and struck the female victim. Davis was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. Bond is set at $500.

Richard Hoj, 46, 131 Lagonda Street, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on October 27, 2013 at 7:06 pm on the following charges:
Aggravated assault with a firearm
2 counts possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
Domestic abuse battery
Possession of Schedule I (marijuana)
Simple criminal damage to property
Disturbing the peace
Resisting an officer
Possession of an alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle
Reckless operation of a vehicle
Possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance

Deputies responded to a complaint of a reckless driver on Clements Lane in Bayou Vista. While answering that call, deputies received a second complaint stating that gunshots were heard in the area of Southwest Boulevard. Using a description provided by witnesses, deputies put out a bulletin to neighboring agencies to be on the lookout for the suspect vehicle. The vehicle was located by Patterson Police and followed it to a residence on Pecan Lane. Deputies located the driver, identified as Hoj, inside the home. During the course of the investigation, deputies determined that Hoj grabbed a female victim in an aggressive manner before leaving Clements lane. As Hoj drove away from that location, his vehicle sprayed gravel onto several vehicles and homes. According to a witness, Hoj was then seen on Southwest Boulevard pointing a gun out of the window of his vehicle. The witness stated that gunshots were then heard. After receiving consent to search Hoj's vehicle, deputies located two guns, a burnt marijuana cigarette, and several empty beer cans. During his arrest, Hoj refused to comply with deputies requests to walk to the patrol vehicle. Hoj was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set. The case remains under investigation. A picture of Hoj is included.
