Shreveport Sewer Main Breaks at Champion Lake

SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) - Shreveport city crews were working
Saturday to repair a broken sewage main that was pouring raw waste
into Champion Lake.
The sewage was spilling at a rate of about 4,000 gallons per
This is similar to a sewage main break that occurred at Champion
Lake in mid-July.
The city's director of operational services, Mike Strong, tells
The Times of Shreveport that officials hope to have the problem
fixed by Sunday.
The break occurred early Saturday when officials restarted the
Stoner Lift Station after a power outage late Friday.
Strong says a crew located the break about 100 feet south of
where the first break occurred in July. Roughly 9 million gallons
of raw sewage gushed into the lake after the July incident.
