This issue's professional: Luke O'Connor is the stylist behind Grace's gorgeous curls or stick-straight 'dos on the TV show "Will & Grace."
Question: My hair isn't dry, but it isn't very shiny either. I would love to know how to give it that sheen I see on shampoo commercials. Any ideas?
Answer:On TV, half of it is the hair being actually shiny and half of it is the lighting they use in the commercial. In those advertisements, they use a shine product with high-grade silicon in it. To get this effect, blow dry your hair by moving your brush from root to end, without ruffling the hair, and then polish it up with a flattening iron (if your hair is straight) or a curling iron (if your hair is curly). Afterwards, add a little shine product. These steps will make the cuticle lie very, very flat; and the flatter the cuticle lies, the more light reflects off of it and the shinier your hair will be -- just like on TV.
