Representatives from southeast Louisiana sheriff's offices are set to discuss hurricane preparations in New Orleans.
Orleans Parish Sheriff Marlin Gusman's office set a news conference for Wednesday morning to provide information on evacuation procedures for his office's facilities. Also to be discussed: New Orleans' booking procedures for anyone arrested during or after an evacuation; and, coordination efforts among neighboring sheriff's offices.
Gusman was scheduled to attend along with representatives from the West Baton Rouge, St. Bernard, Jefferson and Plaqemines sheriff's offices and the Louisiana Sheriffs Association.
The Orleans office's support vehicles used during emergencies, including the mobile communications and booking bus, will be open for media tours. Orleans Parish boats and a mobile kitchen from the West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office will be displayed.
