U. S. Senator Harry Reid is coming under fire for remarks he recently made downplaying the effects of Hurricane Katrina. The Nevada Democrat, while arguing on the Senate floor for Hurricane Sandy relief for the Northeast, said the following:
"When we had that devastation from Katrina, we were there within days taking care of Mississippi, Alabama, and especially Louisiana -- within days. We are now past two months with the people of New York. The people of New Orleans in that area--they were hurt, but nothing in comparison to what happened to the people in New England."
The Republican Party of Louisiana is calling on Reid to apologize and for the Louisiana Democratic Party and Senator Mary Landrieu to denounce Reid's comments. What's your take on Reid's remarks? Click "The Rant" icon at the top of KATC.com to have your voice heard.
