(Washington, D.C.) - U.S. Sen. David Vitter today congratulated the New Orleans Saints on their 31-17 victory over the Indianapolis Colts in Super Bowl XLIV, which secured the first NFL championship in the franchise's history:
"Well, it's been a long time coming, but our Saints finally won the Super Bowl! Forty-three seasons after watching John Gilliam return the first kickoff in Saints history for a touchdown, I was so proud to join Saints fans around the world in cheering on our team to this huge victory," said Vitter. "I congratulate coach Sean Payton, Drew Brees, and the entire Saints organization on a tremendous achievement. This is a joyful moment for all Louisianians, and my family and I can't wait to join in the world's longest Second Line as Who Dat Nation celebrates this historic win."
